Veronica Cangemi - soprano
Born in Mendoza (Argentina), Veronica
Cangemi is one of the most versatile sopranos on the music scene today. Much in demand in both the baroque and
classical repertoire, she performed in operas by Monteverdi, Cavalli, Scarlatti,
Handel, Vivaldi, Gluck and Haydn. She regularly collaborated with conductors as
Claudio Abbado, Giovanni Antonini, Ivor Bolton, René Jacobs, Marc Minkowski,
Jean-Christophe Spinosi, Andreas Spering, Adam Fischer, Marek Janowski.
Among her recent
engagements: Handel’s Orlando (Dorinda) with Jean-Christophe Spinosi in
Toulouse, Versailles and Rennes; Carmen (Micaëla) at the Royal Opera
House Covent Garden in London under Daniel Oren; Idomeneo (Ilia) at the
Teatro Colon in Buenos Aires; Mozart’s Great
Mass in C minor with Giardino
Armonico and Giovanni Antonini at the Wratislawia Cantans International
Festival; several concerts throughout Europe.
Plans include: Nedda in Pagliacci and Morgana
in Alcina in Dresden; Serse (Atalanta) with Ensemble Matheus and
Jean-Christophe Spinosi in Budapest and Barcelona; Pergolesi’s Stabat Mater in
Istanbul; Rossini’s Stabat Mater with the Warsaw Philharmonic under
Stefano Montanari in Warsaw.
